
SOUTH CAROLINA — Two men have been arrested and charged with attempted murder following a stabbing incident in Florence on Wednesday.
According to Captain Stephen Starling of the Florence Police Department, 28-year-old Jose Angel Luciano and 32-year-old Devante Marquis Lyde, both of Florence, were taken into custody in connection with the attack.
Luciano is charged with attempted murder and criminal conspiracy. Lyde faces charges of attempted murder, criminal conspiracy, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
Officers responded around 5 p.m. to reports of a suspicious person running through the neighborhood in the 1300 block of Queensferry Road.
Upon arrival, they made contact with a victim who reported being assaulted while asleep in his bedroom. The victim said the suspects entered his room and stabbed him in the left arm with a knife.
The victim was transported to the hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.
Police said all three individuals either live at or have access to the residence on Queensferry Road. Luciano was found at the home and taken into custody. Lyde attempted to flee but was apprehended without further incident in the 1100 block of Brunwood Drive.
Both suspects are being held at the Florence County Detention Center on $300,000 surety bonds.
