GEORGIA — A 13-year-old juvenile has been arrested in connection with a string of vehicle thefts reported in the Somersby Pointe subdivision, according to the Glynn County Police Department.
The arrest took place on July 15 following an interview with the juvenile at the department’s headquarters.
Police say the investigation began in June, when officers responded to multiple reports of thefts from vehicles in the Brunswick neighborhood.
During the investigation, officers learned that various personal items had been stolen, including a firearm. Security footage provided by local residents helped detectives identify the juvenile suspect.
A search of the juvenile’s bedroom turned up two firearms and several other stolen items, police said. One of the recovered firearms had been reported stolen in another Georgia county.
The juvenile has been charged with two counts of Theft Entering an Automobile and two counts of Possession of a Handgun by a Person Under the Age of 18. The suspect, whose name has not been released due to age, is currently being held at a youth detention center.
The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Glynn County Police Department Non-Emergency Line at (912) 554-3645 or submit tips anonymously through Silent Witness at (912) 264-1333.
