COLUMBUS — A teenage boy was fatally shot Wednesday morning in the North Linden neighborhood following an altercation, according to the Columbus Division of Police.
Officers responded to a call around midnight reporting a shooting in the 1000 block of East Weber Road. A 911 caller informed dispatch that a male had been shot.
Upon arrival, police found the teenage boy lying on the sidewalk on the south side of East Weber Road.
The boy was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead at 12:35 a.m.
Police are working to confirm the identity of the victim but believe he was in his mid-to-late teens.
Investigators have interviewed witnesses at the scene and believe the teen was involved in an altercation with possibly three other individuals before the shooting occurred.
