NORTH CAROLINA — Two people were arrested last week after deputies seized more than 14 pounds of illegal drugs, multiple firearms, and thousands in cash from a Union County home, according to the sheriff’s office.

Phillip Blount, 46, was initially stopped by deputies in Monroe while driving a truck and was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant for an unrelated offense.

During a search of his vehicle, officers discovered more than 50 grams of methamphetamine. That discovery led to a search warrant for his residence.

Inside the home, deputies uncovered a large stash of illegal substances and weapons, including:

  • Over 6.5 pounds of meth
  • More than 5.5 pounds of marijuana
  • 2 pounds of pressed pills
  • Over 200 grams of cocaine
  • 360+ grams of psychedelic mushrooms
  • 18 grams of MDMA
  • A small quantity of fentanyl
  • Four pistols, including one reported stolen
  • $66,000 in cash

During the search, deputies identified 44-year-old Jessica Diehl as a second drug trafficker connected to the home. She was also arrested.

Blount faces at least 10 drug and firearms charges and is being held on a $2,000,000 secured bond.

Diehl faces multiple drug-related charges and is being held on a $1,000,000 secured bond. Both suspects are in custody at the Union County Detention Center.
