KENTUCKY — Kentucky State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Wednesday near 900 North Laurel Road.
According to KSP Post 11, troopers responded to a report of a two-vehicle injury accident.
Upon arrival, they found 74-year-old Ronald Begley of London lying injured in the roadway. He had been operating a moped at the time of the crash.
Investigators say both Begley and the other driver, 67-year-old Darlene Maggard of McKee, were traveling northbound.
Maggard’s vehicle was stopped in the road while waiting to turn left when Begley failed to stop and collided with the rear of her vehicle.
Begley, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in London, where he was later pronounced dead.
No other injuries were reported. KSP says alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be factors in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
