
ILLINOIS — A fatal crash early Tuesday morning closed all westbound lanes of Interstate 88 for several hours, according to the Illinois State Police.
The collision, which involved two vehicles, occurred just before 5 a.m. near Route 53 in the westbound lanes of I-88.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, while another was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.
All westbound lanes were closed for investigation and cleanup but reopened shortly after 8 a.m., police said.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
Authorities have not provided further details about how the crash occurred or whether weather conditions played a role.
