OHIO — A Norwalk man was killed Friday night in a motorcycle crash on State Route 61 in Berlin Township, the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) has confirmed.
According to OSHP, troopers from the Sandusky Post responded to the scene just south of Chapin Road around 8:25 p.m. on May 16.
The crash involved a 2002 Harley Davidson Road King Classic operated by 57-year-old Mark Hoover of Norwalk.
Preliminary findings indicate that Hoover lost control of the motorcycle after navigating a left-hand curve while heading southbound.
The bike went off the right side of the road, struck a ditch and a utility pole, and came to a stop.
North Central EMS responded and attempted life-saving measures, but Hoover was pronounced dead at the scene. OSHP reported that he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Hoover’s body was initially transported to Evans Funeral Home in Norwalk and later taken to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office for further examination.
The crash remains under investigation. The Erie County Sheriff’s Office, Berlin Fire Department, and Foster’s Towing assisted at the scene.
