ILLINOIS — A Kane, Illinois man is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop turned into a pursuit and drug arrest in Jersey County earlier this week.

According to the Jersey County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO), deputies, along with officers from the Alton Police Department (APD), were conducting a joint investigation on April 8 into 48-year-old Tony K. Price.

During a traffic stop in Alton, Price allegedly refused to stop and led officers on a pursuit with a female passenger in the vehicle.

The chase ended in a field off West Centennial Road in Jersey County, where Price reportedly disabled his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.

He was eventually tased and taken into custody, while the passenger was apprehended at the scene.

During a search of the area, deputies recovered more than an ounce of crystal methamphetamine. The vehicle was impounded and both Price and the passenger were arrested.

On April 10, Jersey County State’s Attorney Ben Goetten charged Price with Methamphetamine Trafficking (a Class X felony), Aggravated Fleeing and Attempting to Elude (a Class 3 felony), and Driving While License Revoked (a Class 4 misdemeanor). If convicted, Price faces a potential sentence of 12 to 60 years in prison.

Price is currently being held in the Jersey County Jail and is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
