OHIO — Six people were hospitalized, including a teenage girl with life-threatening injuries, following a crash on Interstate 75 in Wood County late Sunday night.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Bowling Green Post, troopers responded around 11 p.m. to the southbound lanes of I-75 near milepost 195 in Perrysburg Township.
Investigators said a Cadillac CTS driven by a 51-year-old Perrysburg man was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed when it struck a Ford Escape driven by a 41-year-old man from Bolingbrook, Illinois. The impact caused both vehicles to come to rest in the roadway.
The Illinois driver, along with his passengers—a 47-year-old woman and two teenage girls, ages 16 and 13—were transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Troopers said one of the teenage girls suffered life-threatening injuries.
The Perrysburg driver and his passenger, a 43-year-old Maumee man, were also taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said speed and impairment are believed to be contributing factors in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
