
MICHIGAN — A 16-year-old girl was killed in a crash early Sunday morning in Macomb Township, according to police.
The crash happened around 1:45 a.m. on Fairchild Road north of 22 Mile Road.
Investigators said a disabled Chevrolet Malibu was on the northbound side of the roadway when it was struck by a Lincoln MKX.
Police said the driver and two passengers inside the Malibu were able to escape the vehicle after the collision. However, the 16-year-old girl, who was seated in the rear of the car, became trapped as the vehicle caught fire.
The teen was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said the names of those involved have not been released. The drivers of both vehicles, along with one passenger from the Malibu and the passenger in the Lincoln MKX, were transported to an area hospital for treatment.
The crash remains under investigation.
