
LOUISIANA — Lafayette police are investigating a shooting that left one person with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and led to a narcotics-related arrest, according to the Lafayette Police Department.
Officers responded to a shooting in the 2400 block of West Congress Street, where a victim was wounded and later transported to a local hospital by private vehicle.
While officers were en route, 911 dispatchers advised them that the victim was already being taken to the hospital. Upon arriving, officers located the victim inside a vehicle outside the hospital before medical staff brought the individual inside for treatment.
Police said officers observed a large quantity of narcotics inside the vehicle, leading to the detention of the driver.
The driver, identified as 18-year-old Brandale Comeaux, was later booked on outstanding warrants and a charge of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance with intent to distribute.
Investigators established crime scenes at both the shooting location and the hospital as the investigation continued.
