ALABAMA — Two people were arrested after a traffic stop in Morgan County led to the discovery of trafficking quantities of fentanyl and methamphetamine, according to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said agents with the sheriff’s Drug Enforcement Unit, assisted by patrol deputies, stopped a vehicle Wednesday along Highway 231 near Union Grove as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.

Deputies identified the driver as Amber Kaye Young, 41, of Hartselle, and the passenger as Billy Frank Brown Jr., 55, of Somerville.

During the stop, a narcotics detection K-9 conducted a free-air sniff around the vehicle and alerted deputies to the presence of illegal drugs, prompting a search.

Young was charged with fentanyl trafficking, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $16,300.

Brown faces the same drug-related charges and was also served with 13 failure-to-appear warrants, including charges related to attempting to elude, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, drug paraphernalia, public intoxication, operating a vehicle without insurance, driving while revoked, failing to stop at a stop sign, expired registration and reckless driving. His bond was set at $258,813.
