LOUISIANA — A Crowley man was arrested on multiple gun and drug charges following a traffic stop Saturday, according to the Crowley Police Department.
Tykell Brown, 20, is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Authorities said Brown was also wanted on a previous bench warrant.
Police said officers conducted a traffic stop for speeding near the intersection of East Jeanette Street and South Avenue L. During the stop, one of the vehicle’s occupants admitted to having drugs inside the vehicle and voluntarily turned over more than 20 grams of marijuana.
Investigators said officers also observed Brown placing an object behind his seat as the vehicle was being pulled over.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of additional drug paraphernalia and two firearms. Police said one weapon was an illegally altered Glock 30 handgun equipped with an extended magazine containing 30 rounds. A second firearm, a Glock 21, was found behind Brown’s seat.
The driver of the vehicle was issued a speeding citation.
Brown was arrested and booked into the Acadia Parish Jail, where he is being held on a $17,600 bond.
