Thousands without power in Wisconsin

WISCONSIN — More than 6,300 utility customers across Wisconsin are without electricity Thursday morning as outages continue to affect communities across the state.

According to PowerOutage.us, 6,370 customers are currently without power, affecting about 0.22% of the nearly 2.94 million customers tracked statewide.

Dane County is reporting the largest number of outages, with 3,499 customers without service. Kenosha County follows with 1,098 outages, while Columbia County has 414 customers without power. Additional outages are being reported in Iowa County with 259, Milwaukee County with 148, Juneau County with 132 and Sauk County with 119.

Kenosha County is among the hardest-hit areas by percentage, with 2.35% of tracked customers without electricity. Iowa County is reporting 1.76% of customers affected, while Columbia County is at 1.65%.

Madison Gas & Electric is reporting the largest number of outages among utilities, with 2,667 customers without service. Alliant Energy is reporting 2,159 outages, while We Energies has 1,396 customers without power.

Wisconsin currently ranks 10th in the nation for the total number of power outages and ninth for the percentage of customers affected, according to the outage tracking website.

Utility crews continue working to restore service throughout affected areas. Residents are encouraged to report outages directly to their electric provider and avoid downed power lines, which should always be treated as energized and dangerous.
