KENTUCKY — A Somerset man was killed and a woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday evening in Pulaski County, according to Kentucky State Police.
Troopers with Kentucky State Police Post 11 in London responded around 6 p.m. to a crash on Clifty Hill Road near the intersection of Wilson Road involving a motorcycle and a Volkswagen SUV.
According to a preliminary investigation, Shelby Crawford, 32, was driving a Volkswagen Atlas northbound on Clifty Hill Road and was attempting to turn left onto Wilson Road.
At the same time, Nathan Grider, 34, of Somerset, was traveling southbound on a motorcycle at what investigators described as a high rate of speed. State police said the motorcycle struck the front passenger side of Crawford’s SUV.
Grider was transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries by the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office.
Crawford was also taken to a hospital for treatment and has since been released.
Kentucky State Police said drugs and alcohol are not believed to have been factors in the crash, although toxicology results are pending.
Trooper Austin Cornett is leading the ongoing investigation.
