
TEXAS — A woman is facing an intoxication manslaughter charge after a crash in the Century Plaza area left her common-law husband dead, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 11 p.m. to Century Plaza Drive, north of the Greenspoint area, following reports of a crash.
Investigators said a vehicle was traveling eastbound when the driver failed to maintain a single lane, lost control and entered a grassy median.
According to authorities, the male passenger was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The female driver was transported to a hospital, where officials said it was determined she was intoxicated. She was later taken into custody and charged with intoxication manslaughter.
Deputies said the woman told investigators she was traveling about 60 mph in a posted 35 mph zone.
Authorities identified the man as the woman’s common-law husband.
Investigators have not said where the couple was coming from prior to the crash.
The incident remains under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
