ILLINOIS — A Dixon woman was killed and others were injured in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on Interstate 39 in Woodford County, according to authorities.
The Woodford County Coroner’s Office said emergency crews responded at 9:49 a.m. to a crash in the southbound lanes of I-39 near mile marker 22, near Minonk.
Coroner Tim Ruestman identified the victim as Lulije Cosentino, 49, of Dixon. She was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 11 a.m.
According to the coroner’s office, Cosentino was driving one of the vehicles involved in the crash. Preliminary information indicates her vehicle was rear-ended.
Other people involved in the collision were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Their conditions were not immediately released.
An autopsy is being conducted, along with state-required toxicology testing.
The Woodford County Coroner’s Office and the Woodford County Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate the crash.
