INDIANA — An Evansville woman is facing criminal charges after police say she became involved in a physical altercation with a 13-year-old child and allegedly grabbed the child by the throat.
According to a probable cause affidavit, officers responded to multiple reports of a fight around 9 p.m. Tuesday in the 1300 block of Ravenswood Drive.
When officers arrived, they located 33-year-old Latishia Funches, who police said appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
Investigators said several witnesses reported that Funches became involved in a physical confrontation with a 13-year-old over a car.
According to the affidavit, Funches told officers her actions were in self-defense. However, witnesses told police that Funches initiated the confrontation by pushing the child and later grabbing the child by the throat.
Funches was arrested and booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail, where she is being held without bond.
She has been charged with strangulation and battery.
The case remains under investigation.
