
KENTUCKY — A California woman died after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to catch her pet that had escaped following a crash along Interstate 75 in Rockcastle County, according to Kentucky State Police.
The incident happened Monday when troopers responded to a crash on I-75. Investigators said 33-year-old Morabia Siddhi Suresh of Fremont, California, had been involved in a separate collision and was exiting her vehicle when her pet got loose.
According to state police, Suresh ran into the roadway while chasing the animal and entered the path of a passing vehicle. She was struck and suffered serious injuries.
Emergency responders transported Suresh to Rockcastle Regional Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Kentucky State Police said the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including Rockcastle County EMS, the Mount Vernon Fire Department, the Rockcastle County Coroner’s Office, the Rockcastle County Sheriff’s Office and the Mount Vernon Police Department.
