ALABAMA — A Gardendale man was killed early Monday in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 65 in Cullman County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
Troopers identified the victim as 21-year-old Hakeem X. Collins of Gardendale.
Authorities said Collins was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. He suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash occurred at approximately 12:05 a.m. Monday on Interstate 65 near the 295-mile marker, about five miles northwest of Dodge City.
Investigators said Collins was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division is continuing to investigate the incident.
No additional information has been released.
