WEST VIRGINIA — A 62-year-old Branchland man died following a lawn mower accident Saturday, according to the West Virginia State Police.
Troopers from the West Virginia State Police Hamlin Detachment responded June 6 to a residence on Isaacs Lane after being dispatched by Lincoln County 911 for a death investigation.
Investigators determined that Barry Brunty, 62, of Branchland, was operating a zero-turn mower when the machine reportedly slid over an embankment and into a creek, pinning him beneath the mower.
Troopers and other emergency responders performed CPR at the scene before Brunty was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment. Despite lifesaving efforts, he later died from his injuries.
State Police said Brunty’s next of kin has been notified.
Authorities indicated no foul play is suspected in the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing by the West Virginia State Police.
