TEXAS — An 88-year-old Midland man was killed in a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 in Martin County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash occurred around 1:45 p.m. on June 5.

Investigators said a Chevrolet Traverse and two semi-trucks were traveling eastbound when a Ford Explorer traveling westbound crossed into the eastbound lanes of I-20.

According to DPS, the Ford Explorer collided head-on with the Chevrolet Traverse, causing the Chevrolet to crash into the median.

The Ford Explorer then struck one of the semi-trucks. A second semi-truck driver attempted to avoid the collision but crashed into the center median.

DPS identified the Ford Explorer driver as Ruben Ramirez Sanchez, 88, of Midland. Sanchez was pronounced dead at the scene.

No additional information about other injuries was immediately released.

The crash remains under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
