SOUTH CAROLINA — An 18-year-old North Carolina man was killed in an ATV crash early Sunday morning at Carolina Adventure World in Fairfield County, according to the Fairfield County Coroner’s Office.
Coroner Chris Hill identified the victim as Braiden Ham of Dallas, North Carolina.
Authorities said the crash occurred during the early morning hours in the Mitford area. Preliminary information indicates Ham was riding the ATV alone when he apparently lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn.
Investigators said Ham was not discovered until about an hour later when a passerby came across the crash scene. Emergency medical personnel responded and pronounced him dead at the scene.
An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted Tuesday.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
