
INDIANA — Police are searching for the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a man Sunday night on Indianapolis’ southeast side.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded around 10 p.m. to a report of a person who had been struck on East Raymond Street near the southbound Interstate 65 ramp.
When officers arrived, they found 55-year-old Earl Cecil Scruggs suffering from injuries. Scruggs was transported to a local hospital, where he later died, police said.
Investigators said the driver involved in the crash left the scene and did not remain to provide assistance or information.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s crash investigators have taken over the investigation and are working to identify the vehicle and driver involved.
No additional information about the suspect vehicle was immediately released.
