
NORTH CAROLINA — A 37-year-old man was arrested after allegedly stabbing another man during a fight at a home in eastern Rowan County on Saturday evening, according to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a home on Larin Way around 6 p.m. and learned that a fight at the residence had resulted in a man being stabbed in the back. The victim was taken to a hospital by a private vehicle before deputies arrived.
Investigators identified the suspect as Daniel Ray Kesler, who had left the scene before law enforcement arrived.
Authorities later located Kesler at a residence on Bringle Ferry Road along with Leah Annette Burns, who was also present at the Larin Way home during the incident.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for the property and collected blood evidence and narcotics. Investigators also recovered blood evidence and a knife believed to have been used in the stabbing from Kesler’s vehicle.
The victim suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized but is expected to recover.
Kesler was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. Burns was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
As of Sunday evening, both remained in the Rowan County Detention Center. Kesler was being held on a $40,000 secured bond, while Burns was being held on a $1,500 secured bond.
The investigation remains ongoing.
