FLORIDA — A 26-year-old man was arrested Sunday morning after allegedly resisting a Florida Highway Patrol traffic stop and calling 911 during the encounter in Lee County.
According to FHP, a trooper stopped a vehicle for speeding on Interstate 75 near Corkscrew Road at approximately 7:49 a.m.
Investigators said the driver, identified as Luis Marin Gonzalez, refused to provide identification, became agitated and rolled up his vehicle window during the stop.
FHP said Marin Gonzalez then called 911, with the call being routed to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
Troopers reportedly boxed in the vehicle and repeatedly instructed Marin Gonzalez to lower the window and cooperate, but he refused. Authorities said troopers eventually broke a side window and removed him from the vehicle.
According to FHP, Marin Gonzalez continued to resist arrest and was stunned with a Taser before being handcuffed and taken to jail.
He is charged with resisting an officer without violence and misuse of the 911 system.
The incident remains under investigation.
