OHIO — A 12-year-old boy was killed and a 13-year-old boy was critically injured after a vehicle crashed into a tree on Johnston Parkway in Cleveland, authorities said.
According to Cleveland Fire, crews responded to the crash and found Garfield Heights police officers attempting to remove the two occupants from the vehicle. Officials said tree branches made access difficult, requiring firefighters to use spreaders and cutters to reach the occupants.
The 12-year-old victim was identified as Aydin Taylor. He died as a result of the crash.
The 13-year-old boy was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
Cleveland police said a firearm reported stolen was recovered from inside the vehicle.
Additional details about how the crash occurred, including who was driving, have not been released.
The crash remains under investigation.
