TEXAS — One person was injured in a shooting near Carpenter Elementary School in Nacogdoches early Sunday morning, according to the Nacogdoches Police Department.
Officers responded to the 1000 block of Leroy Street at approximately 12:52 a.m. after receiving reports of gunshots in the area near the school.
When officers arrived, they learned that a victim had been shot and transported to a local hospital for treatment. Investigators later determined the victim had been shot by an unknown person with a firearm.
During the investigation, police arrested one individual after finding them in possession of a controlled substance. Authorities did not indicate that the arrest was directly related to the shooting.
The condition of the shooting victim has not been released, and no suspect in the shooting has been identified publicly.
