KENTUCKY — A 19-year-old man died after a motorcycle crash early Saturday morning near Philpot, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Brad Youngman said Daviess County Central Dispatch received a call at approximately 1:30 a.m. reporting a single-vehicle crash with injuries in the 6300 block of Luther Taylor Road.

Deputies, along with personnel from Daviess County Fire, Whitesville Police, Thruston Fire Department and AMR, responded to the scene and found an unresponsive 19-year-old male near a crashed motorcycle.

A preliminary investigation indicates the motorcyclist was traveling northbound when he lost control of the motorcycle for unknown reasons. The motorcycle crashed on the roadway and came to rest in a water-filled ditch, authorities said.

Firefighters and paramedics provided emergency medical care before the rider was transported by ambulance to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Despite lifesaving efforts, he later died from his injuries.

The victim’s identity has not been released.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate the crash.
