NORTH CAROLINA — Three people were arrested Wednesday after deputies serving an outstanding warrant at an Ellenboro residence discovered suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia, according to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office.
Road Patrol deputies responded to a home in the 100 block of South Glenn Street to serve an outstanding warrant on 48-year-old Stanley Heath Ledford for domestic violence and assault.
Upon arriving at the residence, deputies encountered several occupants, including Ledford. While speaking with those at the home, deputies observed drug paraphernalia in plain view, which led to a search of the residence.
During the search, investigators located a container holding a white powdery substance believed to be fentanyl. Deputies also found marijuana, alprazolam and various items of drug paraphernalia, including digital scales.
Stanley Ledford, of Ellenboro, was charged with trafficking in fentanyl, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, simple possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also served with warrants for misdemeanor domestic violence and assault charges.
Authorities also charged 45-year-old Phillip Ledford, of Ellenboro, with maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance and simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance.
A third individual, 56-year-old Steven Elliott Weast, of Ellenboro, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Stanley Ledford is being held without bond pending a district court appearance. Phillip Ledford received a $10,000 bond, while Weast was issued a $1,000 bond.
All suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
