
NORTH CAROLINA — An 81-year-old man died after suffering a medical emergency and crashing into another vehicle in Asheville, according to police.
The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. on May 26 on Hendersonville Road.
According to the Asheville Police Department’s preliminary investigation, Peter Tracy Gillette was driving a 2018 Subaru south on Hendersonville Road when he experienced a medical emergency and drove through a red light.
Police said the Subaru collided with a 2014 Nissan that had a green light and was attempting to turn left to travel northbound on Hendersonville Road.
The occupants of the Nissan were transported to Mission Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Gillette was found unconscious at the scene and was also taken to Mission Hospital, where he later died.
Following Gillette’s death and the completion of the investigation, police said no charges will be filed.
