KANSAS — More than 600 arrests were made, 800 warrants were cleared and dozens of firearms and narcotics were seized during a month-long crime reduction operation in Wichita, according to the Wichita Police Department.
Authorities announced the results of Operation Triple Beam on Monday. The initiative, led by the U.S. Marshals Service, brought together federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to target areas of Wichita experiencing high crime rates.
The operation was conducted from March 16 through April 18.
According to police, the enforcement effort resulted in more than 600 arrests and the clearance of approximately 800 outstanding warrants. Investigators also seized 82 firearms and recovered 225 pounds of narcotics.
Officials said the drugs seized included large quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana.
“Every offender apprehended represents an opportunity to prevent another crime, protect another victim and improve the quality of life for the people who call Wichita home,” Wichita Police Chief Joe Sullivan said.
Police said Operation Triple Beam has been conducted four times since 2019 through partnerships among local, state and federal agencies focused on reducing violent crime and removing illegal drugs and firearms from communities.
Authorities did not release additional details on individual arrests but said the operation was aimed at improving public safety in areas with elevated crime rates.
