NORTH CAROLINA — Five people were arrested and multiple firearms and drugs were seized during a search warrant operation Friday night in Scotland Neck following weeks of reported shootings, drug activity and gang-related complaints, according to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said members of the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force executed a search warrant around 8:30 p.m. at a residence on McDowell Road in Scotland Neck.
Sheriff Tyree Davis said the investigation stemmed from numerous shooting incidents reported in the area over the past several weeks, along with citizen complaints involving drugs, firearms and gang activity connected to the residence.
Deputies said several people fled the scene when officers arrived, leading to multiple brief foot pursuits before suspects were apprehended.
During the search, investigators seized three firearms, marijuana, cocaine, crack cocaine, MDMA and hydrocodone.
The sheriff’s office identified Sha’born R. Hill, 26, of Allison Drive, as the primary suspect. Hill was charged with multiple drug offenses, including possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver Schedule II, III and VI controlled substances, felony possession of cocaine and felony possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance. He was jailed under a $190,000 secured bond.
Authorities also arrested convicted felon Denzell McDaniel, who was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was held under a $30,000 secured bond.
Kelvin Williams, A’zhavion Wiggins and De’Marreon Powell were each charged with resisting, delaying or obstructing a public officer.
The operation involved the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team, Scotland Neck Police Department, the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
The investigation remains ongoing.
