ARIZONA — A Page man was arrested Saturday on multiple drug-related charges after police discovered suspected narcotics during a traffic stop, weeks after a possible overdose death at a home he shared with the victim, according to authorities.

The incident began shortly after 11:30 a.m. when a Page police officer stopped a Chevrolet pickup truck for multiple traffic violations near State Route 98 and Coppermine Road.

Police said the driver immediately exited the vehicle with a firearm holstered on his hip. Officers temporarily secured the weapon while speaking with him.

A police K-9 named Bacon was brought to the scene and alerted to the presence of illegal drugs during a free-air sniff around the truck, authorities said.

During a subsequent search, officers reported finding suspected cocaine and fentanyl packaged for sale, additional drugs on the driver and drug paraphernalia commonly associated with narcotics sales.

The driver was arrested and booked on suspicion of possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics for sale, possession of drug paraphernalia and misconduct involving weapons.

According to police, the arrest follows an April 24 incident in which a person was found dead from a possible overdose at a residence shared with the suspect.

Investigators later obtained a search warrant for the home and reported finding suspected fentanyl, cocaine and additional paraphernalia consistent with drug sales.

Authorities have not publicly identified the suspect. The investigation remains ongoing.
