One person injured following shooting incident in Kentucky

KENTUCKY — A man was hospitalized after being shot early Sunday morning in Louisville’s California neighborhood, according to Louisville Metro Police.

Police spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said officers responded to a report of a shooting around 3:15 a.m. Sunday in the 1900 block of West Madison Street.

When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to UofL Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

During the investigation, police determined the shooting actually occurred in the 1800 block of Greenwood Avenue. According to Mitchell, the victim was attempting to get into his vehicle when he was shot.

Authorities said the suspect fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. No arrests have been made, and there are currently no known suspects.

The Louisville Metro Police Department is continuing to investigate the shooting.
