One person dead following shooting incident in Michigan

MICHIGAN — A 15-year-old boy was shot and killed by a Fraser police officer while officers were responding to a reported domestic dispute Saturday evening, according to the Fraser Department of Public Safety.

Police said officers were dispatched around 5:30 p.m. to the 17000 block of Breezeway for a domestic disturbance call.

During the response, an officer discharged his weapon and struck the teenager, authorities said.

Emergency medical aid was provided at the scene before the teen was transported to a local hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, he was later pronounced dead.

Officials said no officers were injured during the incident.

The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave in accordance with department policy while the investigation is conducted.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office has taken over the investigation into the shooting.

Authorities have not released the identity of the teen or additional details about the circumstances that led to the shooting.

The investigation remains ongoing.
