TEXAS — Four men were arrested after a Livingston police officer allegedly witnessed a suspected drug transaction in the parking lot of a Walmart store Thursday, according to the Livingston Police Department.
Police said the officer observed the suspected drug deal involving John Way, 63, of Livingston, and Kenneth Thompson, 53, of Kyle. When the officer approached, authorities said Way fled in a pickup truck while Thompson ran from the scene. Both men were later apprehended.
Investigators said officers recovered methamphetamine that appeared to have been recently packaged for distribution, along with a scale commonly used in drug trafficking.
Police later obtained a search warrant for Way’s residence on Castlewood Drive. During the search, officers allegedly found additional methamphetamine, six firearms and other items associated with drug trafficking.
Authorities said two other men, Kyle Way, 30, and William Stewart, 51, both of Livingston, were found inside the residence and arrested.
Kyle Way and Stewart are each charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance involving more than four grams but less than 200 grams.
John Way faces six counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, two counts of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance involving more than four grams but less than 200 grams, evading arrest with a vehicle and theft of a firearm.
Thompson is charged with possession of a controlled substance involving more than four grams but less than 200 grams, evading arrest with a previous conviction and a parole violation.
All four men were booked into jail, and the investigation remains ongoing.
