One person injured after high-speed police chase ends in crash in Indiana

INDIANA — One person was injured early Saturday morning after a high-speed police chase ended in a crash in Elkhart County, according to authorities.

Police said officers were pursuing 19-year-old Jael Paz-Perez around 1 a.m. when the chase reached speeds of approximately 100 mph.

Investigators said Paz-Perez crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of County Road 26 and County Road 9, just south of Elkhart.

The driver of the vehicle that was struck suffered a concussion and chest injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances that led to the pursuit.

Paz-Perez was taken into custody following the crash, according to police.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
