PENNSYLVANIA — Two people were injured Friday evening in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 in Washington County, according to emergency officials.

The South Strabane Fire Department said crews responded to the crash on I-70 eastbound near mile marker 22.

Authorities said the collision involved three vehicles and affected both eastbound lanes of the interstate, causing significant traffic delays in the area.

One person was transported by ambulance to a hospital for treatment. A second person suffered injuries serious enough to require transportation by medical helicopter, officials said.

Emergency crews remained at the scene Friday evening as they worked to assist those involved and clear the wreckage from the roadway.

PennDOT reported a lane restriction in the area, and motorists were advised to expect delays while crews continued their response.

The cause of the crash has not been released, and no information about the identities or conditions of the injured individuals was immediately available.

The crash remains under investigation.
