
NORTH CAROLINA — A 79-year-old High Point man died Thursday from injuries he sustained in a two-vehicle crash a day earlier, according to the High Point Police Department.
Police said Fredrick Simon Lutz died May 28 after being critically injured in a collision at the intersection of Westchester Drive and Wickliff Avenue around 2:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Investigators determined that Lutz was turning left onto Wickliff Avenue from Westchester Drive when he entered the path of another vehicle, causing the crash.
Two occupants of the second vehicle were taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said no charges will be filed in connection with the crash.
According to authorities, the incident marks High Point’s first traffic fatality of 2026.
