INDIANA — A Petersburg man is facing multiple drug-related charges following a months-long investigation by the Indiana State Police Drug Enforcement Section.

According to Indiana State Police, the investigation into the alleged distribution of narcotics began in January 2026. As a result of the investigation, a Pike County arrest warrant was issued May 22 for Trevor Adkins on charges related to dealing methamphetamine and dealing controlled substances.

Police said officers located an SUV driven by Adkins on U.S. 231 in Spencer County on May 27. After the vehicle was stopped, Adkins was taken into custody on the Pike County warrant.

During the stop, officers observed indicators of possible criminal activity, according to ISP. A K-9 officer conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotics.

Investigators said a search of the SUV led to the discovery of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Troopers also reported observing signs of impairment while speaking with Adkins.

Adkins was taken to Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City for a chemical test before being transported to the Spencer County Jail.

Indiana State Police said investigators later executed a search warrant at Adkins’ Petersburg residence, where they found approximately three ounces of suspected marijuana, marijuana wax, THC vape products and drug paraphernalia.

Throughout the investigation, officers also reportedly seized four ounces of suspected methamphetamine and 300 suspected controlled-substance pills, including 224 grams of suspected Xanax and 14 grams of suspected Adderall.

Adkins is currently being held without bond on Spencer County charges pending extradition to Pike County.

He faces several charges in Pike County, including dealing methamphetamine, dealing Schedule II and Schedule IV controlled substances, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

In Spencer County, he faces charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
