ILLINOIS — A number of Illinois public school districts are wrapping up the 2025-26 school year this week, with calendars showing final student attendance days on either Thursday, May 28, or Friday, May 29.

Districts listing Thursday, May 28, 2026 as the final student day include Community Consolidated School District 89 in Glen Ellyn, where the approved calendar calls for a half-day of attendance if no emergency days are used.

McLean County Unit 5 in Normal also lists May 28 as a half-day student attendance day for K-12 students.

Several Illinois districts have calendars indicating Friday, May 29, 2026 as the projected final student day if no emergency makeup days are needed. Those include East Aurora School District 131, whose calendar notes May 29 as the final day for students and staff under the normal schedule.

Other districts around the state have tentative late-May end dates tied to unused emergency days and weather makeups. Palatine Community Consolidated School District 15 lists May 28 as the final day for grades K-7 if no emergency days are required.

Many districts closing this week also have graduations, teacher institute days, records days and other end-of-year activities scheduled immediately after students leave for summer break. Illinois law requires school districts to meet minimum instructional day requirements before concluding the academic year.
