OHIO — Police in Brook Park plan to conduct a sobriety checkpoint this week in Cuyahoga County, according to the Brook Park Police Department.
Authorities said the checkpoint is scheduled for May 28, though the exact location will not be announced until Thursday morning.
Brook Park police said there have been 153 alcohol-related crashes in Cuyahoga County from Jan. 1 through May 28. Officials said nine people were killed in those crashes.
According to state data, nearly 95,000 OVI-related citations have been issued across Ohio since 2020. The data also shows impaired driving contributed to more than half of all deadly crashes statewide.
Police said the checkpoint is being funded through federal grant money.
Additional details about the checkpoint are expected to be released Thursday.
