Tornado touches down in Georgia, National Weather Service confirms

GEORGIA — An EF0 tornado touched down in northeast Georgia Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service.

The tornado was confirmed in Elbert County near Ruckersville following a damage survey conducted by officials. The survey found the tornado had estimated peak winds of 75 mph.

Officials said the tornado lasted for a few minutes and touched down between Hulmes Chapel Road and Ruckersville Road.

Several trees and large branches were blown down during the storm, according to officials.

No injuries were reported.
