ALABAMA — A Covington County man is facing multiple felony drug charges after deputies said he fled from an attempted traffic stop and was later found hiding under a bed inside a relative’s home.
According to the Covington County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened May 21 near the Gitty Up and Go gas station by the Honda dealership in Covington County.
A deputy said he recognized the driver of a black Kia as 32-year-old Octavian Mobley, who authorities said had a suspended driver’s license. When the deputy attempted to turn around and initiate a traffic stop, Mobley allegedly sped away down Pugh Street.
Deputies said Mobley then ran into a family member’s home, where he was later found hiding under a bed.
During the investigation, authorities said deputies found an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle.
Mobley was arrested and booked into the Covington County Jail. He is charged with trafficking a controlled substance, second-degree possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, attempting to elude law enforcement and tampering with physical evidence.
According to the sheriff’s office, Mobley’s bond was set at $250,000 for the trafficking charge, with additional bonds totaling $16,500 for the remaining charges.
