
TEXAS — An 80-year-old man drowned at Boerne City Lake on Sunday, according to the City of Boerne.
City officials said the man went under the surface of the water and began struggling, according to a city bulletin.
People nearby attempted to help the man, but those efforts were unsuccessful. Responders from the Boerne Fire Department Water Rescue Team, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the Boerne Police Department were called to the scene.
Officials said the lake has been closed until further notice while the incident is investigated.
The Boerne Fire Department is continuing to investigate the drowning.
The city did not immediately release the man’s identity.
The incident happened during Memorial Day weekend. Officials said more information would be released as it becomes available.
