MISSOURI — A man was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Independence late Saturday night, and police are searching for the driver responsible.
According to the Independence Police Department, officers and emergency crews responded just before 11:20 p.m. to the area of North M-291 Frontage Road and 3rd Terrace after reports of a crash.
When first responders arrived, they found a man lying in the roadway. Authorities said life-saving measures were attempted, but the man was pronounced dead around 11:45 p.m.
Investigators said evidence at the scene indicates the man was struck by a vehicle while walking in the area. The driver fled before help arrived and has not been located.
Police have not released a description of the suspect vehicle. The investigation remains ongoing.
