FLORIDA — A 28-year-old Wauchula man was killed Friday afternoon in a multi-vehicle crash on State Road 62 in Manatee County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened around 4 p.m. on SR-62 east of Bunker Hill.
Investigators said the Wauchula man was driving westbound when he crossed the center line and entered the eastbound lane, where his vehicle collided with a Freightliner semi-tractor trailer driven by a 66-year-old man from Kissimmee.
According to FHP, debris from the crash then struck two additional westbound vehicles — an SUV carrying a woman and two teenagers from Lakeland and a pickup truck occupied by three people from Nokomis and Sarasota.
The Wauchula man was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.
Authorities said the semi-truck driver suffered minor injuries. No injuries were reported among the occupants of the SUV or pickup truck.
The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
