MICHIGAN — A Jenison motorcyclist was killed Friday morning in a crash involving an SUV in Georgetown Township, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the crash happened around 8:50 a.m. on Cottonwood Drive at Summerset Drive.

Investigators said a Yamaha motorcycle, driven by a 32-year-old Jenison man, was turning left from Summerset Drive onto Cottonwood Drive when it entered the path of a northbound Chevrolet Equinox.

The motorcycle collided with the SUV, and the motorcyclist died from injuries suffered in the crash, deputies said.

The Equinox was driven by a 21-year-old Grand Rapids man. He and a 21-year-old female passenger suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment. Another passenger, a 23-year-old Grand Rapids man, was not injured.

Authorities closed Cottonwood Drive between Baldwin Street and Bauer Road while investigators worked at the scene. Deputies said the road was expected to reopen around 12:30 p.m.

The crash remains under investigation.
