TEXAS — A 23-year-old man died Wednesday after his vehicle crashed into the pool area at Clute Municipal Park and caught fire, according to police.
The crash happened near Brazoswood High School in Clute, according to the Clute Police Department.
Investigators said the man was driving southbound on Brazoswood Drive when his vehicle went through a fence at Clute Municipal Park on Parkview Drive and crashed into the pool area.
Police said the vehicle caught fire after the crash, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to preliminary information from investigators, officers believe the driver may have suffered a medical episode before the crash.
Authorities also noted that the decommissioned pool was empty at the time of the incident.
The Clute Police Department continues to investigate the crash.
